What’s the difference between accident towing and breakdown towing?
The main difference is the licensing. Only a licensed tow truck company like Select Tilt Tray Group is authorised to tow or transport cars that have been damaged by being in an accident. In theory, anyone with a suitable vehicle is allowed to tow a car that has broken down and has not been involved in a collision.
What type of tow trucks are used for accident towing?
We have an impressive range of tilt tray vehicles – you can view our fleet here – which are suitable for towing or transporting damaged cars and larger vehicles after an accident.
Does Select Tilt Tray Group deal with insurance companies?
Our crew will always ensure that your vehicle arrives at your authorised mechanic or insurance depot on time so that there are no delays when it comes to getting your car repaired or initiating your insurance claim. If you have comprehensive car insurance, we can even bill your insurance company directly and spare you this time-consuming task.

What should you not do if your car breaks down?
If your car breaks down, the first thing to remember is try not to panic! Don’t stop in the middle of the road and instead, safely pull over to the left. Also, don’t attempt to flag down other drivers as this can cause a distraction. Finally, don’t exit the vehicle if the weather is extreme and you have nowhere safe to stand. If your car breaks down, you can count on us for a reliable breakdown towing service.
Can I tow the car myself?
While you can technically
tow your car, we don’t recommend doing so. Towing your own car can be quite risky, and if all precautions aren’t taken, you could cause even more damage to your car, hindering not only your safety, but also nearby drivers' safety. Instead, leave it to the experts! For professional breakdown towing assistance,
contact us.

No, we do not charge a surcharge fee. All we charge your card for is the fee quoted for your towing job.

Do you ever look for new subcontract drivers?
Sometimes we do, obviously we cannot take on everybody, keep an eye on our website for positions vacant or trucks for sale. Sometimes our subcontract drivers will need to leave our group for various reasons and they will sell their trucks with work so that the truck remains in the group.
Does Select Tilt Tray Group offer country and interstate towing services?
We do, but often we will recommend a car carrier company if your car is not needing urgent transport and it is driveable. Generally car carriers will not touch damaged or undriveable vehicles or cars that have goods, parts or personal belongings in them. We will go anywhere for our customers though, but be aware that
tilt tray hire is more expensive than car carriers because we look after your vehicle from pickup to drop off and usually your car is all we will be loaded with to offer you quick and reliable transport.

tow caravans and boats thanks to their electric brake controllers.
